Even though the man carries negative emotions such as depression, anxiety, anger and apathy, he still chooses to sing along with his little critters. Although they may always be a part of him, they can coexist. Nothing can stop anyone from pursuing what they love while bearing these struggles. The critters are even cheering for him as he overcomes hardships and continues to shine.

There are so many emotions we can feel everyday. But sometimes we can choose which feelings we want to hold on to. This artwork is a reminder that even when the day isn’t perfect, I can choose to find a little happiness along the way.

This is a little something illustrated for the lovely Sky’s birthday! Despite our little critters and inner voices overwhelming us and drowning us sometimes, we can still make friends with them and coexist <3 and that feeling of peace and whimsy is what I want to share with Sky on his special day!

I wrote “The Little Critters” entirely in bed, working on it a little bit more every time I had trouble sleeping. This is how I wish to visualise my emotions - as annoying, but adorable little critters I want to learn to embrace and live harmoniously with. I hope that looking through this art gallery, it will become evident that our mental health and emotional journeys are very much unique - and yet, none of us are in this alone.

The artwork shows how hope and groundedness may aid one through the inevitable tides and ripples in life. May it serve as a motivation that the little critters are very much existent, but so is a choice to meet them with love.

An angry fist can crush the most beautiful things to dust. The flower is never the true source of our rage; we often lash out at the innocent, turning delicate beauty into collateral damage just to vent our pain.

Yet, destruction is not the only release. Fire does not have to burn everything in its path. This piece confronts how unexamined fury spoils what is pure.

Let it go.

WHEN ANGER HIDES SOMETHING DEEPER

Through his dinosaur characters, Thaddeus expresses the intensity of anger, frustration and inner emotional struggle. The crowded creatures, sharp teeth and deep red surroundings reflect emotions that can feel overwhelming.

Created to raise awareness of depression, this artwork reminds us that depression does not always look like sadness. Sometimes, it can appear as anger, withdrawal or emotions we may not understand.

Look beyond the anger. There may be a deeper struggle within.

I wanted to show wrath as something active and hostile, not just a passive feeling. Those heavy, restrictive halos are about how bitterness locks your mind down. The fire is completely unpredictable because rage eventually burns down everything around it. I used a chaotic punk style and heavy acrylic scraping to make the whole piece feel loud, messy, and desperate to break out.

WHEN NOTHING SEEMS TO MATTER

Through his dinosaur characters, Thaddeus expresses the feeling of apathy - emotional numbness, detachment and a lack of motivation. The many creatures, with their blank expressions, reflect a sense of disconnection and being overwhelmed from within.

Created to raise awareness of depression, this artwork reminds us that depression can sometimes appear as silence, withdrawal or simply feeling nothing at all.

Look beyond the silence. There may be a deeper struggle within.

When I think about the word ‘Apathy’, it signifies less of an indifference to situations, but a heavy paralysis preventing a response. The mind races, but the body feels overwhelmed and weighed down all at once. In this artwork, I wanted to represent that feeling through a person who seems aware and tense, but is stuck in a passive posture, immobilised by both internal turmoil and external forces.

I have schizophrenia and anxiety disorder. This artwork was drawn months ago when I was struggling with self-emotional issues and being unemployed. I got so tense and depressed at home. One day, I just picked up my phone and took a photo of myself inside a dark room, and then I decided to paint this artwork. Because, out of nowhere, I suddenly felt anxious about the unknown. I also hope to use this artwork to encourage people out there to not give up hope!

Sometimes, making and posting art online feels like I am naked. I’ve made myself completely vulnerable and shown my innermost self, but there wasn’t even anything interesting to see.

This is a watercolour illustration about anxiety. The main character’s long hair is filled with confusion and overwhelming thoughts that represent all her anxieties, worries and burdens that she keeps inside. And so, she thought of a way to release her anxiety, which is to paint and express her emotions of anxiety. She uses art as a form of expression, showing that she is human, and that these emotions of anxiety are valid.

“I used to draw confused monsters like this for a self-harm support forum and they never left. Just little guys, with horns, claws and teeth.

Four little creatures embody Apathy, Anxiety, Anger, and Depression. Their colors spread across the canvas, permeating every space. A man stands at the center, filled with and surrounded by these emotions. He is rendered with a chain brush, symbolizing how he has locked away all his senses in chains while confronting those emotions.

Hi! I’m Kel, the person behind jelly.c.diaries :) This artwork idea came about because I have lots of hobbies and things that bring me comfort, especially collecting (and hugging) plushies, and eventually crocheting and making them for myself and people who just need a little companion. To me, depression might always be there, but it’s a little companion that needs acceptance and hugs too, just like the rest of the plushies.

“After my mother passed I spent several months away from my wife, friends, and my regular routines. I had support and I was surrounded by love. I could see it but I was not able to feel or connect to it.

For me drawing this type of basket-weave pattern is a mindful and grounding exercise. Something I return to over and over when the world feels too difficult. You make the marks, follow the process and at the end you have a little piece of art and a little piece of inner calm.”
